THE SENIOR PATHWAY

Progress towards Senior Whitewater Instructor.

For highly experienced paddlers and instructors, Paddle Melbourne can support progression towards the Senior Whitewater Instructor pathway—the Paddle Australia level associated with guiding and instructing novices on day-based activities up to Grade 4.

This is an evidence-based senior qualification.

Paddle Australia states that Senior Instructor is gained by submitting the required evidence and passing review by its Education and Safety Advisory Group. We can help you understand the pathway, prepare and identify the right next steps.

COURSE QUESTIONS

What to know before you enquire.

Can you deliver courses for a whole organisation?

Yes. Group delivery can be planned around your staff, operational context, craft and intended Paddle Australia pathway.

Are qualifications craft-specific?

Yes. Paddle Australia’s whitewater framework is assessed for the relevant craft, such as canoe, kayak or packraft.

Can recreational paddlers take part?

Yes. Skills and rescue training can suit club members, Scout leaders and independent paddlers as well as people pursuing professional qualifications.

Do I need prerequisites?

That depends on the award. We will confirm experience, skills, logbook, rescue and other requirements before recommending a program.
